An ocean voyage for Ariane 6 stages

Second Ariane 6 launcher stages on their way to Europe’s Spaceport

The Canopée freighter ship left the port of Bremen in Germany carrying the stages of the Ariane 6 launcher for the first commercial flight. On arrival at Kourou’s Pariacabo Port, French Guiana, at the end of November, the stages will be taken to Europe’s Spaceport.

The Canopée sail-assisted cargo vessel loaded the Ariane 6 main stage, which had been integrated at the company’s Les Mureaux site near Paris, in Le Havre in France, then travelled to the port of Bremen in northern Germany to load the upper stage.

Once they reach the Spaceport in French Guiana, the main and upper stages will be transferred to the Launcher Assembly Building (BAL) on Launch Complex no. 4 (ELA4). There, the two stages will be assembled by ArianeGroup to form the launcher’s central core, which will then be transferred to the launch pad.

While the components of the second Ariane 6 are en route for French Guiana, ArianeGroup’s sites in France and Germany, are already integrating parts of the third, fourth and fifth Ariane 6 launchers.
