More than 10,000 visitors, 150 exhibitors and 4,000 speakers from 96 countries are meeting in Milan, Italy, this week (14–18 October) for the 75th International Astronautical Congress (IAC). ArianeGroup and its subsidiaries are presenting our products and services on a joint stand. These include the Ariane 6 and Maia launchers, orbital propulsion systems and innovative composite components.

The regularly increasing number of participants and exhibitors at this annual meeting of the global space community clearly shows the growing importance of space for business, politics and science – and the need to talk about safety in space and the responsible use of resources.

The use of the hybrid sailing freight ship Canopée to transport Ariane 6 components from mainland Europe to Kourou is certainly one of the examples for enhancing sustainability that will be discussed at our stand, especially when the videos of the ship and Ariane 6 appear on the large screens. Innovations relating to the new Ariane 6 and Maia launchers, chemical and electric orbital propulsion systems and innovative composite components will also be presented.

ArianeGroup specialists will be taking part in expert round table sessions throughout the conference. Ariane 6’s inaugural flight is the topic of the panel with representatives from ArianeGroup, Arianespace, CNES and ESA on Friday morning. In the technical conferences, our colleagues will share their knowledge and take the opportunity to discuss new technologies with the space tech community.

Other highlights on the agenda:

  • Our contribution to the European ENLIGHTEN project with new technologies for future launchers (Loïc Debeugny)
  • Advancing the Phoebus demonstrator for a lightweight future upper stage together with industrial partner MT-Aerospace (Diana Dietze)
