ArianeGroup is marking its commitment to space security and European cooperation through active participation in the large-scale military exercise AsterX, led by the French Space Command.

AsterX is an annual tactical military space exercise focusing on integration, interoperability and cooperation, involving French Space Command units and a wide range of military and civil partners from other nations. Its objective is to perfect interconnected training for response to constantly increasing and diversifying threats, via a complex, realistic and credible international, multi-domain simulated space environment.

AsterX 2025 is being carried out over two weeks, from 17 to 28 March, at the Toulouse site of the French space agency CNES, and involves 170 participants from 12 countries worldwide, civil and military organisations and industry partners. The scenario covers 18 space events, simulates 4,000 objects in all orbits and addresses 10 different types of threats – a challenging test of space-based operational support.

As in all previous AsterX exercises, ArianeGroup’s space surveillance service Helix is playing a key role. Helix is Europe’s largest private telescope network, today operating 25 stations worldwide. Covering all orbits day and night 24/7, the Helix system delivers precise positioning and orbit tracking data and analysis of objects in space – critical capabilities in a world where military operations increasingly depend on satellite infrastructure.
