Technological risk management expertise

At ArianeGroup, management of the technological risks linked to our manufacturing processes and our handling of hazardous and pyrotechnic substances is an integral part of our core business. In compliance with ever more technical environmental protection regulations, the SME Environnement team makes its expertise available to companies looking to address these issues. This expertise is built around proven methodologies including safety tests and digital simulations of hazardous phenomena.

Reliability, Availability, Maintainability, Safety (RAMS)

SME Environnement offers its customers tried and tested methods for sensitive high-tech applications: PRA (Preliminary Risk Assessment), FMECA (Failure Modes Effects and Criticality Analysis), HAZOP (HAZard and OPerability studies), FTA (Fault Tree Analysis), etc. These methods are used for new processes and complex systems.

Pyrotechnics and hazardous objects

To manage pyrotechnic risks when using hazardous materials and objects, SME Environnement draws on its extensive know-how, including testing on all scales and the production of safety files.

Installations classified for protection of the environment (ICPE)

In order to comply with the requirements of increasingly complex regulations, SME Environnement provides all necessary guarantees for performance of risk assessments and the production of the studies and files demanded by the regulations: Hazard Analysis (HA), Health Risk Assessment (HRA), Technological risk prevention plan (PPRT), On-site operations plan (POI), Safety management system (SMS), Greenhouse gas emissions inventory (BEGES), etc.

Designing pyrotechnic infrastructures

By combining its expertise in the effects of explosions and its experience with pyrotechnic standards (UFC 3-340-02, AASTP1, IATG, etc.), SME Environnement can work on infrastructure projects to support the project owner with the specific pyrotechnic design aspects.

ATEX (explosive atmosphere) studies

SME Environnement proposes a pragmatic methodology compliant with the regulations:

  • Identification and reduction of ATEX zones
  • Assistance with drafting the Explosions Protection Document (DRPCE)

Management of lightning risk

SME Environnement holds QUALIFOUDRE certification (certificate N°082397906044) and can prevent lightning risk, with production of the lightning risk analysis (ARF) and the technical study (ET) stipulated by the ICPE regulations currently in force.
