ArianeGroup retains MT Aerospace AG as a supplier of critical components for the industrial ramp-up of the European heavy-launcher Ariane 6. Agreement reinforces a longstanding partnership that plays a key role in securing Europe’s independent access to space. MT Aerospace AG will supply tanks and major structural components for the upper and core stages of Ariane 6.
On September 25, ArianeGroup and MT Aerospace have signed in Berlin a new contract for the operational phase of Ariane 6, securing Europe’s access to space for years to come. The agreement covers the supply of tanks and major structural components for the upper and core stages for the flight models 16 to 42 of the Ariane 6.
ArianeGroup, a French-German leader in space technology, retains its largest industrial partner in Germany as the new European heavy-launcher enters its industrial ramp-up. The renewed cooperation builds on a longstanding partnership between ArianeGroup and MT Aerospace. The Augsburg-based supplier has already been a major partner during previous Ariane programs.
Philippe Clar, Director Space Transportation Programs at ArianeGroup, said: “This fruitful collaboration with a major industrial partner is an important step to make the Ariane 6 ramp-up a success. I would like to thank the teams at ArianeGroup and MT Aerospace. This agreement underscores the German contribution to the Ariane 6 program and shows the progress in the negotiations with our partners for the operational phase of the launcher. Ariane 6 will guarantee European sovereignty in space for years to come.”
Ulrich Scheib, CEO of MT Aerospace, said: “Ariane 6 will be the backbone of European access to space into the next decade. This keeps the gateway to space open for Europe – with a significant contribution from Augsburg, which means further growth for our company. This not only strengthens the competitiveness of the European space industry, but also Europe’s independence in accessing space. With this contract, we are consolidating our position as a reliable partner in the European space program and supporting Europe’s ability to act in the areas of security, defense, communication, and research.”
