As the first flight model of Ariane 6’s Vulcain 2.1 core stage engine is being integrated, we talk to colleagues who are playing a part in this adventure
What is your role in the Vulcain 2.1 first flight engine?
I am in charge of organising acceptance of the first Ariane 6 Vulcain 2.1 flight model and its future integration.
What was the biggest challenge you faced?
Coordination between the teams on the Vernon and Les Mureaux sites, so that each step in the process could be optimised, from departure from Vernon up to removal of the engine from storage in the integration workshop at Les Mureaux.
“Working on the Ariane 6 program, makes me feel a real pioneer of the European space industry.”
What is your best memory?
Seeing my team focusing on a single and particularly demanding goal. I experienced a feeling of solidarity with them and the desire to continue to move forwards, despite the challenges.
